PartnerJohn’s legal career spans 40 years and has resulted in hundreds of jury trials with numerous verdicts and successful settlements, including a $327 million jury verdict* against Ortho-McNeil-Janssen Pharmaceuticals in 2011. John was appointed by Governor Henry McMaster as Chairman of the Board of the South Carolina Transportation Infrastructure Bank in 2017, and he has been named a South Carolina Super Lawyer in criminal defense from 2008 through 2023. In 2020, the University of South Carolina School of Law presented John with the Platinum Compleat Lawyer Award. John also serves on the state’s chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates and the American Association for Justice, as well as in leadership positions on numerous boards and legal associations across the state of South Carolina.

PartnerA cum laude graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Law, Marghretta has worked with John and Griffin on a wide variety of cases in both state and federal court. Marghretta and her husband are proud to call Spartanburg their home. Marghretta is a board member of the Spartanburg Area Conservancy (SPACE), and she has two young sons.

PartnerGriffin received her juris doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law and has worked with John and current partner Marghretta Shisko for over a decade. She assisted John in obtaining the $327 million jury verdict* against Ortho-McNeil-Janssen Pharmaceuticals in 2011, and she has continued her practice alongside John and Marghretta to advocate for a variety of clients in state and federal court. Griffin currently serves as a trustee on the School Board for District 7 Schools.

Of CounselA Bluffton, South Carolina resident and magna cum laude graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Law, Chris brings significant appellate experience to John B. White, Jr., P.A. Chris joined the team in 2019 to assist in the firm’s management of opioid litigation brought on behalf of South Carolina’s political subdivisions, and he has since expanded the scope of his practice to include the firm’s other areas of focus.
